Mayor Eric Adams of New York City has two approaches to a horde of illegal alien migrants showing up in his city.
- Denounce Texas, Florida, Colorado, and other states for busing them to New York City
- Try to bus them to Canada and then upstate
What’s amazing is how Adams seamlessly mixes his denunciations of other states busing illegal aliens to the city with his denunciations of other counties for refusing to take the illegal aliens he’s busing to them.
Now Adams has further escalated his war with the rest of the state by suing most of its counties.
New York City filed a lawsuit Wednesday against over 30 upstate localities that issued emergency orders aimed at barring the Big Apple from housing migrants in hotels.
The city’s suit names Rockland and Orange counties, in addition to 31 other counties and one town, that recently issued migrant-related emergency orders after New York Mayor Eric Adams announced his administration will begin busing migrants to private hotels in their areas.
Adams’ corporation counsel Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix described the emergency orders as “misguided and unlawful” filings “premised on false claims” that asylum seekers’ presence constituted a serious threat to public safety, at a City Hall-based press conference Wednesday afternoon.
That’s most of the state.
Whether or not Sylvia O. Hinds-Radix, the first Caribbean woman to serve as corporation counsel, can manage to prevail, the underlying issue here is that the migrants want to be in New York City, not in Orange County which, unlike the California one, doesn’t have oranges and only so much to do if you’re not a tourist or a local. Adams is trying to dump migrants in Newburgh, technically a city, with less than 30,000 residents.
The migrants don’t want to go to Newburgh and the city doesn’t want them. Adams can sue Newburgh and maybe even get Dem judges to side with him against mostly Republican areas, but how are you gonna keep the migrants down on the farm, once they’ve seen Manhattan?
The counties “have declared states of emergency premised on specious claims that the prospect of a few hundred asylum seekers sheltered at the City’s expense would somehow constitute an emergency imperiling public safety,” the lawsuit states.
“Somehow.”
Adams declared an emergency. Why shouldn’t the rest of New York?
