NextImg:Media Mourns Dead Senator It Tried to Force Out of Office

Hypocrisy is more native to Washington D.C. than bad weather and worse traffic. Still the turnaround on  Sen. Dianne Feinstein is one for the books. Within 24 hours, Democrats and their media had to go from calling Feinstein a senile old lady who needed to be forced out of office to hailing her groundbreaking legacy. The same media outlets harping on the power of attorney granted to her daughter now write movingly about her legacy.

Sen. Feinstein’s convenient death allowed the media to switch from lambasting her to safely burying her while grabbing her seat. And that’s what it was all about. Power and money. Alive, she was an impediment. Dead, she can be added to the hall of feminist heroines.

But even before Sen. Feinstein underwent a fairly obvious decline, the media had been taking potshots at her. Feinstein had lived long enough and spent long enough in office to go from being the heroine to becoming the villain. Her formerly liberal politics were no longer radical enough especially by the standards of a one-party state in thrall to the farthest extremes of the Left.

In one of Feinstein’s glorious moments, she responds to the Sunrise Movement exploiting kids by telling the child soldiers exactly why she doesn’t support the Green New Deal.

That was a turning point at which the media began gunning for her. But now that she’s dead, she’s been redeemed.

Like the old Soviet joke about posthumous rehabilitation, Sen. Feinstein has been rehabilitated and is once again a progressive heroine in death.
