NextImg:LA DEI Boss Who Didn't Provide Water to Fight Fires Get $700K Security

The top of LA’s corrupt DEI hierarchy proved completely inept during the recent fires. That included LA’s first black female mayor, Karen Bass, the LA fire department’s first lesbian fire chief, Kirsten Crowley, and the first ‘latina’ head of the Department of Water and Power Janisse Quinones who was given a $750,000 salary.

Because she was so historic.

Now people are a bit upset because their homes burned down. So the first black mayor fired the first lesbian fire chief and the first latina head is getting $700,000 in security because this is the state of California.

The chief executive of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power has asked the utility’s board to spend around $700,000 on private security for her, citing an uptick in threats after the Palisades fire.

n the wake of the Palisades fire, the DWP received criticism for diminished water pressure in some hydrants and for the Santa Ynez Reservoir sitting empty for nearly a year while awaiting a repair estimated to cost about $130,000.

Quinones, who took over as head of the nation’s largest municipal utility in May, came under increasingly personal attacks online that assailed her $750,000 salary and denigrated her as a “DEI hire” over her Puerto Rican roots.

It wasn’t “over her Puerto Rican roots’, it was over her massively inflated salary. The original DWP press announced that she was a DEI hire by touting her as the “first female Latina to lead LADWP as CEO.”

DWP could have spent $130,000 to fix the reservoir, but instead it spent over 10 times that on its DEI hire.

Now why might people be a bit upset at the DEI boss of the DWP?

Sources told DailyMail.com that since her hiring at LADWP, Quinones oversaw the shutdown and emptying of a reservoir in the Pacific Palisades during brushfire season.

The shutdown meant firefighters battling the current Palisades Fire ran out of water faster, experts say.

A well-connected former LAFD senior officer told DailyMail.com that lack of water was already a ‘common’ problem, exacerbated by DWP failing to fix cutoff fire hydrants.

‘Yearly, the fire department goes out and checks every hydrant,’ he said.

‘For my entire career we would do this once a year then send in a report to our Hydrant Unit with all the problems we encountered. Year after year the same hydrants that had problems were not fixed.

‘One example that comes to mind were the hydrants by Palisades High School on Temescal Canyon. They were dry many times we checked them. DWP knew they had problems and it would take months to fix them.

‘It’s a City-wide known problem with DWP.

In a democracy, catastrophic failures like this lead to heads rolling. In an aristocracy, they double the guard around the elites and warn that the peasants are revolting and may need to be put down.

Democrats unfortunately act like this over and over again. They wreck things and then when people get upset, hire more security, call for crackdowns and warn of a ‘threat to democracy’ by which they mean their own misrule.

Outrageously, police units were diverted to provide Quinones with security at a time when manpower was low. Now Pinkerton guards will be hired to give the “first latina CEO” her own private secret service.
