Jack Smith, the ‘independent’ special counsel trying to take down Trump any way he could, reported a pretty big gift.

Jack Smith, the special counsel who brought two criminal cases against President Donald Trump, received $140,000 in pro bono legal services from a prominent Washington law firm before he resigned last month.

Covington & Burling provided the legal representation, according to a disclosure POLITICO obtained that Smith submitted Jan. 10 in connection with his departure from the Justice Department.

A spokesperson for Covington declined comment. Two of the Covington lawyers representing Smith, Peter Koski and Lanny Breuer, did not respond to messages seeking comment.

Lanny Breuer was the Assistant Attorney General under Obama linked to the Fast and Furious scandal who worked under Attorney General Eric Holder. Convington is Holder’s home base of operations.

Covington & Burling was the Biden campaign’s counsel and was brought in to vet Kamala’s VP picks.

This shatters the pretense of independence. Smith got $140,000 in pro bono legal work from the Biden and Kamala campaign’s law firm and his lawyer was one of the sleaziest figures in the Obama/Holder DOJ.

It makes it all too obvious that the Jack Smith investigation came out of the Biden administration and from Obama vets.

The question is are they covering up for him or for themselves?
