This bad: when asked at a meeting of the EU Parliament to observe a moment of silence in honor of the late Charlie Kirk, they refused, instead offering only catcalls and booing. The plenary session of the European Parliament descended into shouting and jeers on Thursday after left-wing MEPs refused to observe a minute of silence for American conservative activist Charlie Kirk, who was murdered on Wednesday. The gesture, requested by representatives of the Conservatives and Reformists group (ECR) and supported by Patriots for Europe (PfE), sparked a verbal confrontation that sharply divided the chamber.

The gesture was proposed at the beginning of the session as a sign of respect for Kirk, a prominent conservative voice on both sides of the Atlantic. However, the left-wing parties rejected the proposal, arguing such tributes should not be part of the institution’s official proceedings.

The refusal sparked a backlash from conservative and patriotic MEPs, who argued that honoring Kirk transcended politics. While conservatives attempted to uphold the minute of silence, boos and shouting were heard throughout the hall.

The verbal clashes lasted for several minutes, forcing the Parliament’s president to intervene to restore order. Tensions lingered throughout the day….

This is the international left that won’t even observe a minute of silence for the murdered Charlie Kirk because nothing, not even a political assassination of someone known for encouraging debate with those who oppose him, will stop them in their hate-filled and violent tracks. Instead, when asked for that minute of silence, they raised their decibel level, booing those who were observing it, and shouting to make sure no “silence” was possible. Not even a murder would cause them to offer a mere minute of silence. After, all, Kirk was “right-wing,” a “Christian nationalist,” a “strong supporter of Israel.” For the left, European or American, all of these are terrible things. As a consequence, Kirk didn’t deserve any respect or sympathy. That’s the left today, demonstrating in the European Parliament its want of human sympathy.
