Fanatics think of tactics as a one-way street. Lefties come up with things that Dems can do, mint a trillion dollar coin, lock up political opponents or pack the Supreme Court and act like it’s a one-way street. Occasionally saner voices remind them that the other side gets a vote, but quickly gets shouted down.

Lefties declare that anything they do is a one-side street and the other side has no right to retaliate. But the other side does get a vote and once a tactic emerges, it becomes a two-way street.

Remember this great moment from last year.

The House Ways and Means Committee released six years of former President Donald Trump’s tax returns on Friday, offering the most detailed account yet of his finances while in the White House.

The panel voted last week to make the returns public with redactions of sensitive information, after a lengthy legal battle.

Unlike Hunter Biden, there was nothing actually illegal there. So this was an abuse of power and a weaponized invasion of privacy. But since releasing the tax returns of your political enemies is the new normal, why not Hunter’s tax returns?

House Ways and Means Committee Chair Jason Smith (R-Mo.) has planned a special executive session for the committee on Thursday morning to potentially review documents protected by tax privacy laws related to an IRS probe of Hunter Biden.

The move could foreshadow the public release of documents related to Hunter Biden’s taxes. Smith gave notice Tuesday that he will be exercising his unique authority as chair of the House’s tax writing committee to consider documents that are otherwise barred from disclosure because they bear information related to a private citizen’s tax information.

I’m sure the media will explain to us, when the day comes, that it was right and proper to release Trump’s tax returns, but wrong to release Hunter’s. But the ‘heads I win, tails you lose” school of politics is fading away.

And the Bidens may be on the receiving end of the tactics used against Trump.
