Planned Parenthood’s pitch is that they’re not an abortion mill, they provide “health care services”. So apart from killing kids, they also hand out hormones, first come, first serve.
In late July, while his parents were out of town and after he had come of age, Fred went to Planned Parenthood, which prescribes hormones to any legal adult without a letter from a therapist or a formal diagnosis of gender dysphoria. The only requirement is a brief consultation, usually with a nurse practitioner, about the drugs’ effects, which range from mood swings and male pattern baldness to permanent infertility.
How brief? Fred arrived at his local clinic, on North Fullerton Ave. in Montclair, New Jersey, at around 11:00 a.m., according to phone tracking data his parents used to monitor his whereabouts. By 11:39, they received a text message from CVS: Fred’s estrogen prescription was on its way. Instead of a months-long evaluation by expert psychiatrists, a nurse practitioner had, in little over 30 minutes, prescribed their special-needs son a powerful drug without their knowledge or consent.
“It’s criminal what Planned Parenthoods all over the country are doing,” Fred’s mother, a New Jersey pediatrician, said. “And most people have no idea this is happening.”
But, but unsurprising. Hormones have become the new Prozac or Adderrall. And clinics are handing them out like candy despite the horrendous side effects and consequences.
Beck said that when he began transitioning, it took just an hour-long meeting at Veterans Affairs to be offered hormones.
“I walked into a psychologist’s office [and] in one day I have a letter in my hand saying I was transgender. I was authorized for hormones. I was authorized all this other stuff,” Beck said.
An hour at the VA with a psychologist? Planned Parenthood can beat that with 30 minutes and an NP.
Planned Parenthood is obviously an ideological operation. That is its whole reason for existence. And, arguably, its founders, who wanted to limit human reproduction, would have approved of a whole new exciting way to do that. But beyond that, there’s been an epidemic of ‘popular drugs’ being viewed as the solution to a laundry list of vaguely defined problems. Anyone who seems troubled was being treated with a laundry of psychiatric medications, but is now being diagnosed with gender issues and being prescribed hormones.
It’s lazy and incredibly destructive. Fighting this should involve passing legislation that creates clear consequences and a right to sue for damages by the victims of these practices.
Planned Parenthood won’t be prescribing hormones in 30 minutes or less if the organization knows that one single prescription could cost it millions.
