While everyone is talking about Rep. Rashida Tlaib and “From the River to the Sea”, let’s not forget that the DSA was even more open about siding with Hamas. The national DSA issued a statement saying that it was standing in solidarity with the ‘Palestinians” on Oct 7. Local DSA chapters went even further than that in defending the atrocities. The DSA Palestine working group claimed that, ‘one could (and should) very well argue that in a settler colonial context there are no such things as ‘civilians.'”
Some Democrats responded by breaking ties with the DSA (the Squad obviously did not) and DSA-linked groups have been going even further. A Holocaust museum in Los Angeles is hosting a screening of some of the Hamas atrocities. A pro-squatting group in Los Angeles linked to the DSA tried to organize a protest.
J Town Action and Solidarity had previously responded to the Hamas rapes, kidnapping and butchery by posting that
It “unequivocally supports the Palestinian resistance and their struggle against Zionist colonialism and Western Imperialism” adding, “It is our revolutionary duty to support the Palestinian resistance and all oppressed people who are fighting for liberation, by any means necessary.” The last four words italicized for emphasis.
On hearing that a Holocaust museum would be screening evidence of Hamas atrocities, it tried to follow up on the work of the ‘kidnapping poster rippers’ by tweeting, “it would be a shame if folks happened to be congregating at the below address this Wednesday evening”.
The People’s City Council – Los Angeles, another leftist group, immediately smelled a Jewish conspiracy and suggested that violence would be involved. “They will paint every protest/disruption as ‘anti-semitic’. Gaza has been bombed for a month straight & the IDF is showing a propaganda film. There is a call for URGENT action. Confront injustice & genocidal fascists everywhere. You don’t have to make your protests “palatable.”
“People should be aware of risks when showing up to actions and can make their own decisions. We shouldn’t run our folks into danger. If people are passionate to show up and shut shit down, they should. Make sure to mask up. ‘No justice, no peace’ means that.”
J-Town Action and Solidarity also urged, flood the museum’s “lines & demand that they… prioritize safety over pushing propaganda for the genocidal IOF.”
It retweeted a message suggesting that, “I sure hope none of those pesky Ceasefire protesters, with their surprising efficacy in shutting down weapons manufacturer offices and shipments, find out that this be showing.”
Remember all of this is targeting a Holocaust museum.
Pro-Hamas activists were conferencing with a local Students for Justice in Palestine which decided that the “optics” of protesting outside a Holocaust museum will be bad and the pro-Hamas rally against showing footage of Hamas atrocities will be done under the false flag of Jewish Voice for Peace: a non-Jewish pro-terrorist hate group.
And that’s how the media will report it.
But this is the truth. People see the vandalism of kidnapped poster signs and the pro-Hamas rallies as individuals acting out of context. It’s important to see them in context for what they are.
