Media coverage of the Biden crisis now consists of whatever stories or made-up lies fit the media’s narrative and that are being anonymously sourced from alleged Democrat insiders. The short version is that Biden is getting the Trump treatment and nothing the media reports should be considered credible.
With that caveat, enjoy the New York Times’ plagiarism of conservative media reporting from last year. But in a world where Michael Moore is accusing Jill Biden of “elder abuse” and cable news platforms doctors remotely diagnosing Biden over the air, the entire mainstream media is suddenly ‘conservative’ now.
Sick with COVID and abandoned by allies, President Joe Biden has been fuming at his Delaware beach house, increasingly resentful about what he sees as an orchestrated campaign to drive him out of the race and bitter toward some of those he once considered close, including his onetime running mate Barack Obama.
Biden has been around politics long enough to assume that the leaks appearing in the media in recent days are being coordinated to raise the pressure on him to step aside, according to people close to him. He considers Rep. Nancy Pelosi, the former House speaker, the main instigator but is irritated at Obama as well, seeing him as a puppet master behind the scenes.
And he certainly noticed that Obama has not done anything to help him in recent days even as his own former aides publicly have led the way in calling on Biden to withdraw in what was interpreted, rightly or wrongly, as a message from the former president’s camp. The unseen but clearly felt presence of Obama, in particular, has brought a Shakespearean quality to the drama now playing out, given their eight-year partnership.
Obama got him to stay out of the race in 2016 and then did nothing to help him in 2020, despite repeated attempts by Biden to wrap himself in Obama’s brand, until the very end of the primaries when he pushed to unify the ticket and pulled Biden far to the left in the process. After the debate, Obama tweeted a statement of support and then adopted a position of public neutrality while his aides kept going after Biden. Some of those same aides had been coming after him for a long time.
If it took Biden this long to realize that Obama is not his pal, he really is senile.
But the media has taken to pushing bizarre nonsense to justify its endlessly shifting prediction that Biden is about to drop out of the race.
One factor that may stretch out a decision: Advisers believe that Biden would not want to do it before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel visits Washington on Wednesday at the initiative of Republicans to address Congress, unwilling to give the premier the satisfaction, given their strained relations lately over the war in the Gaza Strip.
What satisfaction? If Kamala replaces Biden, that’s even worse for Israel. And the same thing will happen either way. Blaming this on Netanyahu is downright bizarre.
But the media is adopting whatever fits its narrative.
Obama last saw Biden at a lavish, record-setting Hollywood fundraiser before the debate in June, when the two appeared onstage together. At the end, Obama appeared to be leading Biden offstage.
Remember when the media was denying this as a ‘cheapfake’, now it’s uncritically embracing it.
This is why the media is fundamentally untrustworthy even when it’s reporting the truth, because it has no concept of truth, only the truth that fits its agenda at any given time.
