NextImg:Biden Getting Nervous About South Carolina is a Bad Sign

The DNC was supposed to have rigged the primary calendar for Biden, but things aren’t going according to plan.

New Hampshire Dems decided to ignore the DNC and have its primary anyway. Since a loss there would be awkward, Biden is technically not on the ballot, but his party is running a write-in campaign for him anyway. That way if Biden loses, it’s unofficial, but if he wins, or wins anything, Team Biden can claim a win.

The DNC rigged the primaries so that South Carolina, where Biden supposedly can’t lose, would be first. But Team Biden is getting nervous about it.

Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have appeared in South Carolina four times alone this month…

The Biden campaign announced on-the-ground aides in South Carolina way back in early December, before general-election battleground states had their own permanent staffers. A slew of surrogates have stumped there recently. And the campaign is investing six figures into paid advertising in South Carolina, including on television and black radio stations.

This is not a good sign.

It’s been a while since a Democrat won South Carolina and while Republican margins have been sliding a bit, the idea that Democrats would be competitive there is farfetched.

Biden is spending a sizable amount of money in a state where he should be able to win the primary with his eyes closed (especially since he has no real opposition) and can’t win in the general election.

His people are nervous about South Carolina and they need to pull off a major win with major turnout in a race where voters lack enthusiasm.

Biden is sweating here because he knows much of the party would like him to step down and he needs South Carolina, the state his people handpicked, to ease doubts. Instead, he’s only telegraphing his weakness.
