Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a member of The Squad, along with fellow Congresswomen Rashida Tlaib, Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Presley, Cori Bush, and Congressman Jamaal Bowman (the last two were defeated in November and will no longer be in Congress). She has recently been subject to abuse from her fellow progressives for voting for House Resolution 1449, which affirms the “global guidelines for countering antisemitism” as set out by the State Department, and condemns “the rise of global antisemitism.” These “progressives” don’t want antisemitism to be condemned for a simple reason — they are themselves not just anti-Israel, but deep-dyed antisemites.

More on her vote, and the rage being expressed by her erstwhile allies in Congress, can be found here: “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Slammed by Progressives After Voting for Resolution Condemning ‘Global Antisemitism,’” by Corey Walker, Algemeiner, November 22, 2024:

US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has received an onslaught of criticism from anti-Israel progressives over her decision to vote in favor of a resolution “condemning the rise of global antisemitism.”

On Wednesday, Ocasio-Cortez supported House Resolution 1449, which affirms the State Department-endorsed “global guidelines for countering antisemitism.” The resolution passed the House by a 388-21 margin.

Ocasio-Cortez, who commonly goes by the nickname “AOC,” voted opposite three fellow members of the so-called “Squad” — a cohort of progressive Democrats with left-wing positions on issues ranging from foreign policy to economics. Reps. Cori Bush (D-MO), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN) — all stalwart anti-Israel voices in Congress — voted against the resolution, along with a handful of Republicans.

In the face of progressive backlash, Ocasio-Cortez took to Bluesky, a social media website, to explain her decision to vote in favor of the resolution. She implored her followers to “read the text of this bill” and emphasized that it is not “an IHRA bill.” The left-wing congresswoman clarified that she would “NEVER vote for codifying IHRA.”…

Don’t worry, AOC reassures those who think she’s gone over to the anti-antisemite enemy. No, she says, I would “NEVER vote for codifying IHRA.” That IHRA definition of antisemitism has been formulated by the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, and is accepted by more than 1,000 entities, including many countries, companies, and organizations. Both the US and the UN have accepted the IHRA definition. But not AOC, she assures those who now denounce her for voting for a bill condemning antisemitism.

“This absolute goddamn fraud voted for HR 1449 tonight, which further cements criticism of Israel as antisemitic under the law, and will encourage more mass arrests on campus, defunding charities, and strangling aid to Gaza,” wrote one X/Twitter user about Ocasio-Cortez.

“AOC’s vote for HR 1449 hurts. This definition of antisemitism — one that condemns accusations of Israel as ‘racist’ or ‘colonial’ — leaves no room for anti-Zionist Jews,” wrote another X/Twitter user.

“If you’re wondering where AOC’s statement is against HR 1449 — the one that the Zionist ADL is currently celebrating its passage — she didn’t release one, because she voted FOR it; in opposition to Ilhan, Cori, Rashida, and the rest of the Palestinian movement,” tweeted art director and designer Lindsay Ballant….

Those who denounced AOC for voting for HR 1449 are not merely anti-Israel — HR 1449 had to do with all Jews, not just Israelis —-but antisemites, who don’t want any resolutions adopted that condemn antisemitism.

AOC has done some terrible things, according to the “progressives” who have denounced her. She had her picture taken with the parent of an American hostage being held by Hamas. That can only increase sympathy for the hostages, and might make some credulous souls think that Israel had a right to invade Gaza. And that would never do. She voted for HR 1449 to denounce antisemitism, but without endorsing the IHRA guidelines on how to recognize when words or acts should be deemed “antisemitic.” That was unforgivable. And even though she has a week ago criticized the power of AIPAC, the largest pro-Israel lobbying group, that has been of no avail in warding off criticism from the antisemitic left.

AOC has now been condemned to the outer darkness by the hate-maddened antisemites, including her old allies in The Squad like Rashida Tlaib and Ilhan Omar, who will not brook the slightest deviation from the progressives’ antisemitic party line. Perhaps their unhinged abuse will give her pause, and make her wonder if she should be shunning, rather than running after, these people consumed with Jew-hatred.
