NextImg:All Temporary Protected Status for Illegals Need to End

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has announced that Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans is ending. Considering the large number of gang members from that narcosocialist failed state, it’s an obvious emergency move to clear the deck, but as I’ve written before all Temporary Protected Status should end.

TPS prevents illegal aliens and others in the country who are not here legally to remain in America is their country is in bad enough shape.

Let’s first have a look at the scale of the Venezuela TPS problem.

There are currently approximately 242,700 TPS beneficiaries under Venezuela’s existing TPS designation. There are an additional approximately 472,000 nationals of Venezuela who may be eligible under the redesignation of Venezuela.

Massive numbers. And they’re the tip of the iceberg.

Let’s look at Haiti.

Haiti was under TPS or temporary protected status in 2010 over an earthquake. Since then there have been multiple natural disasters and innumerable human ones leading the Biden administration to essentially declare that Haiti is a permanent disaster area.

Currently TPS covers Afghanistan, Burma, Cameroon, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Haiti, Honduras, Lebanon, Nepal, Nicaragua, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine, Venezuela, Yemen

None of these should be on the list. Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Somalia and Yemen are terror states. The only people from those places who should receive legal status are Christians or anyone likely to be persecuted under Islamic rule.

Burma has expelled a group of Muslim insurgents known as the Rohingya. We don’t need more terrorists.

El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Venezuela are failed states. Some suffer from gangs or socialist dictators. But the same is true of most of the world.

Ukraine is in the middle of a war. It’s however quite capable of accepting returnees. Sudan and South Sudan are admittedly pretty horrendous, but that situation appears to be permanent, not temporary. Ditto for most of the countries on the list.

Temporary Protected Status has become permanent. That needs to end.

One down. Sixteen to go.
