Here we go.
In less than a decade, Democrats and their media equated “democracy” to their party and running against them for public office, passing laws they don’t like or criticizing their actions into an “attack on democracy”.
And when democracy is ‘attacked’, it must be swiftly defended by censoring dissenting views as “disinformation”, investigating and arresting the perpetrators on the grounds that dissent is an insurrection and a form of subversion and treason.
Attorney General Garland is just taking that sort of reasoning to the inevitable CCP/Soviet destination.
Responding to a question about Republicans challenging FBI Director Wray and DOJ officials over the conduct of the various Biden investigations, Garland went all in.
“Some have chosen to attack the integrity of the Justice Department,” AG Garland warned. “By claiming we do not treat like cases alike. This constitutes an attack on an institution that is essential to American democracy and essential to the safety of the American people.”
Democrats and their media repeatedly made such accusations during the Bush and Trump years, not to mention the Reagan and Nixon ones, and back then saying such things meant you were a courageous hero fighting for democracy. Any suggestion that critics of the Bush administration should dial down the rhetoric was treated as evidence of fascism. And now, of course, criticism of a Democrat establishment is treated as evidence of fascism.
But a major difference is that Obama crossed the Rubicon with Russiagate. We’re well past officials just saying things like this, we need to assume that they mean it, and we have to assume that AG Garland’s statement that critics of the DOJ’s coverup of Biden corruption are attacking democracy and threatening the safety of the American people means that they will be treated like enemies of the state to be suppressed.
Eavesdropping? House raids? Trials? Democracy must be defended by any means necessary.
