Donald McPherson, WWII Navy ace, died at 103 in Nebraska.

He shot down five Japanese planes aboard the USS Essex and earned the Congressional Gold Medal.

After the war he was a letter carrier in Adams, Neb., and helped start youth baseball and softball. McPherson Field honors him and his wife.
