GB News: Chapel where ‘Bread of Heaven’ hymn written under threat as locals raise £20k to save 'incredible building'
Residents of Hopkinstown are raising funds to save Capel Rhondda, a historic chapel where the hymn "Bread of Heaven" was written, from potential purchase by a property developer. They have collected nearly £20,000 towards the £47,500 asking price.
The Welsh Baptist Union closed the chapel due to declining attendance and deterioration. Locals fear that a buyer with no community ties could neglect the building's history. The Grade-II listed chapel was built in 1885 and is significant to the area's heritage.

Fox News: Execution date set for Florida man convicted of kidnapping woman, killing her
Kayle Bates, 67, is scheduled for execution on August 19 in Florida for the 1982 murder of 24-year-old Janet White, whom he abducted from her workplace. Bates was convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and attempted sexual battery.
Bates' attorney plans to file further appeals, arguing that his execution would violate the U.S. Constitution. Florida has seen a rise in executions, with Bates being the 10th scheduled this year.
