The Epoch Times: Durham Report Is Idictment of Justice System and Special Counsel Itself
Durham Report Is Idictment of Justice System and Special Counsel Itself
Special Counsel John Durham’s report serves as an indictment of the national security and law enforcement apparatus, with unfathomable levels of corruption at the highest ranks. It's an indirect indictment of the justice system and an indictment of the special counsel itself. Durham’s report has rich detail on the scandal where a political campaign, deep state, and media conspired to undermine a presidential candidate and delegitimize, destabilize, and destroy a duly elected president, all based on a lie.

Durham makes it clear that “Trump-Russia collusion” was a fraud from the start, cooked up by Hillary Clinton’s team and the Democratic National Committee. The FBI predicated their investigation based on raw, unevaluated information that they obtained from Australian diplomats who had engaged in bar talk with a volunteer foreign policy adviser to the Trump campaign. Durham’s report shows evidence of a poisoned “Trump-Russia collusion” tree rooted in the similarly perverse efforts—or non-efforts—of investigators. The FBI eschewed glaringly obvious investigatory steps that would’ve shown its pursuit to be a farce and relatedly "discounted or willfully ignored" material information that did not support the narrative of collusive relationships between Trump and Russia.

Fox News: New conservative group grades lawmakers on limited government principles. See where yours stands
New conservative group grades lawmakers on limited government principles. See where yours stands
A new conservative group, the Institute for Legislative Analysis (ILA) has been formed to analyze the policies and votes of lawmakers at the federal and state level and assign them a grade based on the limited government principles of the U.S. Constitution. The group uses a "Limited Government Index" to calculate whether a legislator favors a larger role for government or a more limited one, assigning grades based on thousands of votes and roll calls from each individual lawmaker. The ILA aims to increase transparency within Congress and state legislatures and advance the limited government principles of the U.S. Constitution by informing voters of their representatives' policy positions. (, )

The ILA categorizes lawmakers based on their scores across 10 different policy fields, including national and local security, tax and fiscal, energy and environment, and individual liberties, providing greater insight into an individual lawmaker's votes rather than a percentage score like those given by other rating groups. The higher the rating, the more limited the lawmaker treats the role of government; the lower the rating, the larger the lawmaker treats the role of government. With detailed scores for every member of Congress, the ILA plans to deploy the same system toward every member of all 50 state legislatures in the future, equipping advocacy groups with research and technology to hold lawmakers accountable and make more informed decisions at the ballot box. The Federalist: Taxpayers Spend Billions Of Dollars Annually On Woke Welfare
Taxpayers Spend Billions Of Dollars Annually On Woke Welfare
Taxpayers are unknowingly financing left-wing activism in America through government funding for non-profit organizations, corporations, museums, libraries, colleges, and other entities. The Claremont Institute's Center for the American Way of Life created the Federal Progressive Subsidy Database to track federal "subsidies" for leftist political activism. Since 2016, the database contained over 2,618 entries totaling more than $6 billion in federal subsidies to leftists, with immigration being the largest category. The database provides information such as the recipient organization's name and location, fiscal year, federal agency responsible for the payment, and a description of its purpose. Congress should exert oversight and control over federal agencies to terminate the funding of leftist activism.

Bellevue Hospital’s Disgraceful Reaction to the Viral Citi Bike Video
Sarah Comrie, a hospital worker, has been placed on leave after being filmed struggling over a rented Citi Bike with a young man, leading to accusations of racism. Comrie, who is white, was accused of trying to steal the bike from the black man. However, a lawyer acting for her has produced receipts showing she had rented the bike, and that the charge had lasted only a minute, consistent with the elapsed time of the video. Comrie has been receiving death threats and is in hiding. NYC Health + Hospitals, which operates the hospital where Comrie works, is yet to comment.

‘America Looks Weak’: State Department Official Speaks Out
The State Department mistakenly assigned incorrect pronouns to some employees' email displays, prompting an internal backlash. Despite being a "test" feature, some elevating diversity czars in the department took the opportunity to lecture their subordinates and made it mandatory for all emails to contain pronouns regardless of voluntary participation. An anonymous State Department official criticized the unnecessary attention on diversity matters, calling it a "waste of taxpayer resources" that harms the country's image overseas.

Uncontrolled Immigration Is 'Sending Australians Into Poverty': Freelancer CEO
Freelancer CEO, Matt Barrie, has criticized the Albanese Labor government for increasing immigration levels in Australia. Barrie believes that Australia’s over-reliance on immigration as an economic growth driver is causing the country to suffer from a "worst rental crisis on record, overloaded infrastructure, construction blowouts, bureaucracy, mass insolvencies and the largest destruction in purchasing power in 50 years." He argued that the policy is “sending the Australian middle and working classes into poverty” and will “cause pain for the people over here.” Labor has claimed it is working to increase the housing supply so the situation does not get worse but not everyone is convinced that this policy will do enough.

CA reparations task force member defends million-dollar payouts: 'Sin bill' for 'terrorizing Black people
Reparations task force in California receive backlash after approving cash payments of up to $1.2 million per person to Black residents for the lasting effects of slavery. The proposals are said to cost over $800 billion, and almost seven times San Francisco's annual budget. Rev. Amos Brown advises Californians to "pay their sin bill," arguing that even in more prosperous times, Black Americans were still treated unjustly. Brown suggests those opposing the decision have a hard-heart towards Black people. The California proposals will move on to the state legislature for consideration, while San Francisco's final proposals will be discussed in September.

There should be no foreign peace plan for Ukraine, only Ukrainian – Ukraine President’s Office
Ukrainian Deputy Head says peace plan for Ukraine must be solely Ukrainian. President Zelenskyy is open to proposals from other countries but the formula for peace must ultimately be Ukrainian. Foreign proposals will only be included if Ukraine finds them acceptable. Several countries, including China, Brazil, and the Vatican, have made peace proposals, but ultimately the decision rests with Ukraine.

The Epoch Times: Markets Nervous on Fed Ceiling Uncertainty, US Yields Rise
Markets Nervous on Fed Ceiling Uncertainty, US Yields Rise
Investors were cautious on Tuesday as US debt ceiling talks offered both optimism and pessimism, leaving European shares just shy of last week’s 15-month high. The latest discussions between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy offered no agreement on how to raise the government’s $31.4tn debt ceiling with only 10 days left before a possible default. Both sides emphasised the need to avoid default with a bipartisan deal.

Forbes: Chevron Deal Could Kick Off Another Round Of U.S. Shale Consolidation
Chevron Deal Could Kick Off Another Round Of U.S. Shale Consolidation
Chevron has announced an all-stock buyout of PDC Energy, valued at $7.6 billion with assumed debt, marking the largest US oil and gas upstream acquisition of 2023 so far. The deal gives Chevron 275,000 net acres of leasehold in Colorado's DJ Basin, adding to its already-large position there, and 25,000 net acres to its Delaware Basin assets in South Texas. Acquiring the PDC Energy's DJ Basin acreage for less than $5,000 per acre adds to Chevron’s ESG ratings by promoting lower carbon intensity basins in the United States. The Colorado acquisition does, however, bring increased regulatory risk.

Efforts by the Chevron and PDC buyout to promote ESG ratings by embracing lower carbon intensity basins in the United States, fuelled by increased regulatory risk and the potential of secure years of drilling permits, could spark another round of consolidation. Following a year dominated by the 'bigger is better' philosophy in the upstream shale industry, Chevron's move could act as a 'kickoff-point' for other buyers to consolidate in the sector, following their efforts to strive for economies of scale in creating higher investor returns. Other buyers such as ExxonMobil, confirmed as a possible buyer in the shale sector, could add to future rounds of consolidation in the industry.

The Epoch Times: Oil Slips as US Debt Ceiling Concerns Offset Tight Supply
Oil Slips as US Debt Ceiling Concerns Offset Tight Supply
Oil prices fluctuate due to investor concern over a possible U.S. debt default and the seasonal increase in gasoline demand, but OPEC+ supply cuts provide support. Brent crude falls to $75.93 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude drops to $72.04. Talks between President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on raising the U.S. government’s debt ceiling are at a standstill. No agreement has been reached with 10 days left until a possible default. The macro sentiment is expected to be the dominant price driver for the foreseeable future.

Oil prices are expected to stabilize and consolidate due to a seasonal increase in U.S. gasoline demand and voluntary production cuts made by several OPEC+ members. Hiroyuki Kikukawa, president of NS Trading, expects oil prices to consolidate based on the expected increase in gasoline demand from next week. Analysts also anticipate a small increase in crude stocks as the latest U.S. inventory data is released later this week. Furthermore, planned U.S. purchases to refill the Strategic Petroleum Reserve are also boosting oil prices.

Liberty Nation: Anatomy of Inflation: Federal Reserve Ignores Root Causes
Anatomy of Inflation: Federal Reserve Ignores Root Causes
Former Federal Reserve Chairs Ben Bernanke and Jerome Powell recently discussed current events, specifically inflation and banking turmoil, during a panel discussion at the Thomas Laubach Research Conference. Powell stated that recent credit crunch from the banking crisis may be enough to maintain inflation's 2% target rate, while Bernanke spoke more confidently without reading from a sheet of paper. Both men blamed recent inflation on external factors such as energy and non-energy commodities, labor, and global supply chains. However, they did not take a hard look at the Federal Reserve's role in facilitating the current economic landscape and its reckless policymaking.

2 VT State Police troopers charged with misdemeanors for shooting man with beanbag
Two Vermont state police troopers are being charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment after firing a beanbag at a man who was acting irrationally, causing him to fall and sustain a head injury. The Vermont Troopers' union has warned that the charges would set a dangerous precedent for other law enforcement officers in Vermont.

The troopers arrived at a property in the southern Vermont town of Newfane on 17 June last year, where the man was found with a handheld saw. The troopers fired the beanbag after he became unruly, leading to his fall and injury. Both troopers are on paid administrative leave, but will be suspended after their arraignment.

Connecticut man who ran series of 'street takeovers' charged with rioting, other crimes
A man has been charged with rioting and other crimes for leading a series of street takeovers in Connecticut, which involved illegal racing and blocked roads. Jefferson Duron, 20, was arrested following the events involving more than 200 people in Hartford, Tolland, and New Haven counties. At one of the takeovers, bystander vehicles were struck by baseball bats, an ambulance was damaged during a medical call, and participants struck and jumped on a woman's car. Street takeovers and illegal racing have become problems across the country, surging after the coronavirus pandemic started.

Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont has said he has a meeting planned with NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman to discuss relocating coyotes to Hartford. The governor's comment follows reports of a series of "street takeovers" in Connecticut involving illegal racing and road closures. The events have a "propensity for injury, property damage, mob-mentality decision making and a high potential for violence," said Tolland Town Manager Brian Foley. California has also seen an increase in illegal street racing, with a person shot and wounded during a street takeover in Los Angeles last week.

A judge overseeing lawsuits against the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has promised to rule on the release of appropriate information related to the Covenant School shooter, including the applicable documents, ruled by Tennessee law to be exempt from public inspection, which parents of the students are trying to block. Speaking during the case, Chancellor I’Aesha Myles claimed that open access for governmental bodies, though only for material that needs to come out, is constitutional and essential. Myles did express initial concerns about granting or denying the motions to intervene filed against the case and pledged to address them properly.

Firearms expert taunts pro-gun control academics with bet on rising crime
Gun expert John Lott is challenging academics to bet $1,000 on whether Brazil's homicide rate will increase under President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's gun ownership crackdown. Lott argues that an increase in firearm ownership does not necessarily mean higher crime rates, citing former President Jair Bolsonaro's administration when gun ownership increased sixfold and the homicide rate dropped. Seven of the 12 academics Lott contacted about the bet did not respond, while the others declined the offer or sought different terms. Some called the bet a "silly stunt," saying that homicides in Brazil are affected by various factors beyond gun control laws.
