GB News: Victory for motorists as TfL to investigate signage error which saw 'thousands' slapped with huge fines
Transport for London (TfL) will investigate claims that thousands of drivers were incorrectly fined due to improper signage related to a temporary 40mph speed limit on the A20 Sidcup bypass. The inquiry follows a motion from the London Assembly, highlighting concerns about the adequacy of the signage and the implementation of the speed limit.
Deputy Mayor for Transport Seb Dance acknowledged the issue and noted that there is an ongoing Crown Court case regarding the matter. Reports suggest that around 60,000 drivers received penalties when the speed limit was reduced from 70mph to 40mph, with allegations that TfL used smaller signs than required. TfL maintains that all signage was compliant with regulations.
