GB News: New parking rules launching today will impact how millions of drivers pay across the UK
New rules in the UK now protect drivers from penalties for taking longer than five minutes to pay in private car parks using camera technology. This change follows cases where motorists faced exorbitant fines, including one nearly £2,000 charge.
The new safeguards, part of the British Parking Associations' Private Parking Code of Practice, apply to ANPR or CCTV-monitored car parks. While drivers must still pay for their entire stay, the rules aim to ensure fair treatment for those experiencing payment delays.
