Le Monde: Macron resumes talks with party leaders in search of new prime minister
Macron resumes talks with party leaders in search of new prime minister
French President Emmanuel Macron is under increasing pressure to appoint a new prime minister following a historic no-confidence vote that has deepened the political crisis in France. He is consulting with various party leaders, including independents, Greens, and Communists, to form a stable government.

Macron's centrist allies are urging swift action to avoid further uncertainty. The left-wing coalition, which emerged as the largest bloc in the Assemblée Nationale, is pushing for a prime minister from their ranks, while Macron has ruled this out. Michel Barnier remains as caretaker prime minister until a new government is formed.

Philly man exonerated after serving 24 years for murder conviction has been convicted in separate killing
Shaurn Thomas, who was exonerated after serving 24 years for a wrongful murder conviction, has pleaded guilty to a separate murder charge. He admitted to killing Akeem Edwards over a drug debt of $1,200, along with charges of conspiracy and illegal gun possession.

Thomas, who received a $4.1 million settlement after his release in 2017, is now facing a potential life sentence again. The judge expressed disbelief that Thomas would risk his freedom for such a small amount of money. Sentencing is scheduled for February.
