My dislike for Jacques Delors, like Margaret Thatcher, was influenced by his push for European political union and a single currency. As a commodities broker, I questioned why a trading nation like Britain would want to tie itself closely to neighboring countries. Delors' actions also led to the decline of true Eurosceptics in the Conservative Party. Despite my disdain, I must acknowledge Delors' intelligence and persuasive abilities.
