The Constitutional Council of Senegal has released a list of 20 candidates for the upcoming presidential election. Notably absent from the list are opposition leader Ousmane Sonko and Karim Wade, both facing their own challenges. Prime Minister Amadou Ba and former prime ministers Idrissa Seck and Mahammed Boun Abdallah Dionne are among those who have made the cut. 

Sonko, a long-standing critic of the government, has been sentenced and imprisoned on multiple charges which have strained his relationship with the state for more than two years. Meanwhile, Wade's exclusion is due to his dual nationality. 

With the absence of the incumbent president's participation, there is a sense of uncertainty surrounding the upcoming election. The outcome will likely be influenced by the dynamics between the remaining candidates.
