GB News: New hi-tech camera planes equipped with radar and sensors to be used to spot small boat migrants crossing the Channel
The UK Home Office has invested £34 million in two De Havilland Dash 8 aircraft for continuous surveillance of Channel migrant crossings. The aircraft, equipped with advanced technology, aim to prevent illegal landings and support law enforcement against people smuggling.
One aircraft is currently operational, providing eight hours of coverage, while a second is expected next spring. The initiative has already helped intercept over 33,000 migrants this year, with no undetected crossings reported since operations began.
