Fox News: NYC Mayor Adams sets up legal defense fund amid swirling FBI probe
New York City Mayor Eric Adams has established a legal defense fund to accept donations outside of the regular campaign cycle amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of foreign money being funneled into his mayoral campaign. The fund will require reporting of contributors giving $100 or more, while government subordinates and those doing business with the city are prohibited from donating.
The FBI is investigating whether Adams' 2021 election campaign conspired with the Turkish government to receive illegal foreign donations. Brianna Suggs, a top fundraiser for Adams, had her home raided by the FBI as part of a broader public corruption investigation. The FBI also seized two phones and an iPad belonging to Adams. Investigators are looking into a construction company with ties to Turkey and a university in Washington, D.C. with ties to both the country and Adams.

A guest lecture at Connecticut College titled "Socialism 101" presented an idealistic and misguided defense of communism in Cuba. The lecturer argued that capitalism's profit motive devalues labor and leads to poverty, but this overlooks the role of supply and demand in determining prices. She also claimed that colonialism is driven by profit motives, ignoring historical evidence to the contrary. The lecture praised Cuba's government and economic system as a "hopeful alternative" to capitalism, but failed to acknowledge the country's economic struggles and lack of political freedom.
