Cody Rhodes delivered a special message to Brock Lesnar Monday on Raw.
WWE Raw advertised Dominik Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins, Ricochet and Logan Paul face-to-face and Drew McIntyre and Matt Riddle vs. IMPERIUM. Raw also advertised a special message from Cody Rhodes to Brock Lesnar.
Last week’s broadcast of WWE Raw garnered 1.828 million viewers.
The Judgment Day aired out their grievances to kick off Raw, and between their in-ring segment and making amends backstage, it gave me “Bullet Club is Fine” vibes.
Seth Rollins cut his promo with a plate of Buffalo wings in his hand, I guess because they were in Buffalo?
As usual, Dominik Mysterio got the most heat of anybody near the ring. Dom predicted he’d beat Seth Rollins, and though nobody believed him, fans still took exception to this the way they do any words that come out of Dom’s mouth.
For Matt Riddle, Randy Orton can’t come back soon enough. Having said that, Riddle has chemistry with everybody and I wouldn’t be mad at a Riddle-McIntyre alliance for the time being.
McIntyre picked up the win for his team, but I’d be against McIntyre dethroning GUNTHER, even though he just came back. GUNTHER is just too close to Honky Tonk’s record.
The bell didn’t even ring before Rollins was ambushed by The Judgment Day in an attempt to soften him up for a cash-in. In a surprise to nobody, Priest was unable to cash-in in Buffalo.
WWE remixed this match to a six-man tag pitting Rollins, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn (who made the save) against Judgment Day.
Though Ricochet is getting better on the mic, judging by their promos alone, you’d think Logan Paul was the seasoned veteran.
Fans chanted “Logan sucks” as Ricochet ran down Paul, only for Logan to say “you’re in the middle of your promo, and the chant is still about me.”
Logan Paul criticized Ricochet for being a “replay” wrestler, only for Ricochet to recreate his spot with Velveteen Dream by flipping over the ropes. Ricochet seemed to prove Paul’s point for him, saying “that was cool for a TikTok.”
The crowd was into Becky Lynch, but not so much Zoey Stark, though Stark did draw “ooh’s” and “aahs” when she hit a springboard Phoenix Splash.
Facemask Trish Stratus is one of the many variations of Trish Stratus that I find to be entertaining.
The announcers talked up Zoey Stark’s ability to hang with Becky Lynch, which is usually a kiss of death for an up-and-comer, but unlike Grayson Waller on Friday against Edge, Stark actually pulled off the upset with help from Trish Stratus.
Maxxine Graduation rushed right into her speech and Chad Gable had to tell her to “hold on” so the crowd could chant “you deserve it.”
Fans embraced everything about this segment, and really embraced Maxxine as a new member of Alpha Academy. This is not always the case with women wrestlers i.e. Carmella with Enzo and Cass.
Maxxine calling Otis her muse made me laugh out loud.
Maxxine was getting ready to put on her honorary jacket, then the Viking Raiders’ music hit, and for whatever reason, she was too scared to put it on. This led to Valhalla stealing the jacket.
This match came about because Emma reminded Shayna Baszler that she faced Ronda Rousey in her return match.
Emma had about as much of a chance in this match as she did an entrance.
Ronda Rousey walked out and was booed initially, but received a babyface reaction for her attack on Shayna Baszler.
Cody Rhodes apologized to the viewers at home because he turned around to look at the entire arena, which exploded in cheers for him.
Rhodes noted that everybody has a Brock Lesnar in their lives. He went on to compare a fear of heights, crippling anxiety, student debt and a woman at the Georgia Marathon taking a wrong turn to Brock Lesnar.
Rhodes cut another great promo, challenging Brock Lesnar to a rubber match. No stipulation has been announced.
This was an impressive, intense brawl early on, which plays off the personal backstory between Miz and Ciampa.
WWE is developing a habit of beating stars who either just got called up or just returned. If Zoey Stark didn’t win tonight, it would be a red flag.
Bronson Reed cost Ciampa the match, and it wasn’t too long ago thatMiz and Reed seemed like they were going to have an alliance before that storyline was dropped.
The most over stars in this match were as follows: 1. Table. 2. Miz. 3. Ciampa.
Miz’s victory was his first TV win of 2023.
Backstage, Rhea Ripley once again confronted Raquel Rodriguez, and every time that happens it renders the Women’s Tag Team Titles as secondary.
The way Samantha Irvin announces Chelsea Greene’s name will never get old.
Damian Priest tagged in Finn Balor, and the camera made sure to zoom in on Priest’s face so we could see how displeased he was to do so.
Balor and Rollins had a few issues during their exchanges as the match briefly slowed to a crawl.
As has been the case post-WrestleMania, Zayn suffered yet another pinfall loss. The Judgment Day is fine (for now).
The Judgment Day will be coming to NXT as WWE continues to goose the ratings during TV negotiation season.
