Hurricane Helene made landfall at about 11:10 p.m. EDT Thursday, around 45 miles southeast of Tallahassee, Florida, before gradually weakening to a Category 1 hurricane as it moved inland, bringing dangerously high waters that flooded homes and buildings.

Helene now moves toward the Tennessee Valley (follow along here for more updates).

Over two million homes and businesses across Florida, Georgia and South Carolina are without power; Florida was hit the worst, with around 1.25 million people facing blackouts.
