


United Airlines has issued a nationwide ground stop due to an equipment outage, according to the Federal Aviation Administration, halting flights for one of the nation’s busiest airlines.

The FAA Air Traffic Control center released an advisory Tuesday afternoon that all United flights were grounded at the company’s request over an equipment issue.
The ground stop will be in effect at all airports at United’s request until at least 2 p.m. Eastern time, NBC Chicago reported.
Downdetector showed more than 770 reports of issues with United Airlines on Tuesday, 90% of which were delays.
United Airlines said last week it expected to have some of its busiest travel days of the year this Labor Day weekend, predicting August 31 and September 1 would be the busiest, ABC reported.
