U2 is currently running through their Las Vegas residency at the high-tech new venue they helped open, The Sphere. As they continue to play to sold out crowds who flocked to the city to see both the legendary rock band and the incredible location, the group is still looking forward to their next chapter.

Band members Bono and The Edge spoke with Zane Lowe as they gave him a tour of The Sphere for an episode of his Apple AAPL Music 1 radio show, and they opened up about what’s coming next for the group...sharing details on a topic that so many of their fans have been hoping to hear about.

“Well, I think new music, new tunes,” The Edge commented when they began discussing what’s coming next. “There's a lot that we have ready and some that need a little dusting off, but will be ready soon. I tell you, we've got some amazing new songs.”

Bono added more to the conversation, getting specific with a potential song count. “Edge has about 100 in the bag,” he revealed, adding that he has “about 20…” He then joked about the band’s Larry Mullen Jr., who is sitting out the residency due to a health issue, saying, “Larry will be sitting there going through the bag going, ‘Yeah, no, that's shite. That's shite. That's shite. Is there anything here that isn't shite?’”

The rocker seemingly confirmed that they are already thinking about a new album, commenting that, “We'll find 10. And that's all you need,” which likely means for a full collection to share with the world.

Continuing the chat about new music, Bono mused that “If we want to continue as a band, it's only about one thing. It's about the text, it's about the tunes, it's about the performance.” Some fans might disagree, but the masses are always looking for what’s new, so his comments about always working toward putting out more is likely what the world wants to hear.

U2 returned earlier in 2023 with their first album in years, Songs of Surrender. The set saw the band reworking some of their biggest hits, and it came paired with a Disney+ documentary that featured Bono and The Edge talking about the tunes that made them stars and their decision to remake them. The set debuted inside the top 10 on music charts all around the world.

As the band was kicking off their residency at The Sphere, they released a standalone single, “Atomic City.” Some passersby in Las Vegas caught them filming a music video on the street, and Bono interacted with the crowd as they shot the clip.
