Turquoise Yachts

Since the average size of superyachts being built these days continues to rise, I’m not surprised the latest from Turquoise Yachts (that’s under construction now and was introduced at the recent Monaco Yacht Show ) is 81-meters (265-feet) long. The 80-meter size range seems to be the current sweet spot that provides just the right amount of space for owners who expect to be dazzled by multiple decks of spacious, full custom interiors and sun splashed exteriors. And, oh, yeah, an 80-meter is going to have plenty of space to keep the crew comfortable and be able to store, and easily deploy all the toys and tenders too.

With Turquoise’s successful track record of launching several significant yachts relatively recently, including the 75-meter Infinite Jest that has an exterior design by Andrea Vallicelli and a Sinot Yacht Architecture & Design interior, and literally cruised directly to Antarctica on her maiden voyage. And the 79-meter, Harrison Eidsgaard-designed Nympheas that was launched earlier this year. The 80-meter size range appears to be right in the Turquoise Yachts sweet spot as well.

And their newest build, the 81-meter Project Rafale was designed inside and out by H2 Yacht Design in London to have elegant and undulating exterior lines. And I think they accomplished that. And I love the way each deck is contoured and wrapped in glass to deliver panoramic views throughout.

MORE FOR YOU

Behind her distinctive exterior lies a refined approach to outdoor living. An obvious highlight of the design is the large beach club at water level that opens out on three sides. Project Rafale also boats three pools – located on the main, owner, and sun decks – and a mix of shaded and open-air zones for dining, entertaining, and relaxation.

Meanwhile, H2 Yacht Design’s interior reflects the same philosophy of versatility and balance. The owner’s suite – complete with private office, his and hers dressing rooms and bathrooms, and direct access to a private terrace and pool forward – sets the tone for a calm, contemporary onboard experience. Six additional guest cabins and a series of lounges and entertainment areas are spread across the main, owner, and bridge decks, are connected by a sculptural spiral staircase at the heart of the yacht.

The 80-meter range seems to be just right for Turquoise Yachts. And, um, I could get used to spending some time on an 80-meter Turquoise too. It can’t hurt to dream, right?
