Former President Donald Trump suggested Tuesday that Philadelphia is experiencing voter fraud, though the Republican presidential candidate did not provide evidence for his claim, which has been refuted by Philadelphia officials who accused him of spreading disinformation.

Trump said in a Truth Social post there has been “a lot of talk about massive CHEATING in Philadelphia,” adding onto a wave of baseless and debunked fraud claims he and his allies have pushed over the last week.

Philadelphia City Commissioner Seth Bluestein said there is “no truth” to Trump’s allegation, characterizing it as disinformation and adding in a follow-up tweet the city has been in touch with the Republican National Committee and “been responsive to every report of irregularities at the polls to ensure Philadelphians can vote safely and securely.”

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner said there is “no factual basis whatsoever within law enforcement” to support Trump’s claim, inviting the former president to provide facts to support his allegation and saying “we want them. Right now. We are not holding our breath.”

Trump has not yet responded to Bluestein and Krasner on Truth Social.

Trump has attempted to discredit the legitimacy of the election multiple times during the leadup to November 5, recently claiming there was election fraud in the swing state of Pennsylvania. Trump did not back his claims with evidence as Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt told reporters last week that spreading content devoid of context, “sharing social posts filled with half-truths or even outright lies is harmful to our representative democracy.” Trump’s challenges about the integrity of the election have persisted since he lost and attempted to overturn the 2020 election, when the former president filed multiple lawsuits in Pennsylvania and other states alleging fraud and irregularities. Nearly all of the lawsuits failed.
