President-elect Donald Trump announced Monday he will impose tariffs on imports from China, Mexico and Canada after entering office, following up on vows during his campaign to institute tariffs on foreign-made goods that many economists believe will lead to price increases.

Trump said he will impose 25% tariffs on all products from Mexico and Canada as one of his first executive orders, blaming drugs and unauthorized immigration, adding the tariffs would remain in effect “until such time as Drugs, in particular Fentanyl, and all Illegal Aliens stop this Invasion of our Country!”

The president-elect also announced 10% tariffs on Chinese goods “above any additional Tariffs,” citing Chinese-made fentanyl.
