Debate moderator and CNN anchor Dana Bash repeatedly asked Trump if he would accept the results of the 2024 elections, but the former president dodged the question at first, saying he wants fair and free elections “more than anybody.”
Bash asked the question again and Trump veered the topic toward Biden’s military policies and said the current administration will “drive us into World War III.”
When pressed to give a yes or no answer, the former president simply said “If it's a fair and legal and good election, absolutely,” without specifying what his criteria for that was.
Trump then reiterated his baseless claims about the 2020 elections, saying he would have “much rather accepted” the results, but “the fraud and everything else was ridiculous.”
Biden attacked Trump on this and accused him of “continuing to promote this lie about somehow there was all this misrepresentation, all this stealing” when there was no evidence of it.
The president then mocked Trump, saying he was a “whiner” who couldn’t stand to lose and “Something snapped in you when you lost last time.”
