In a statement shared with several media outlets, the sheriff’s office cited “guidance from the District Attorney’s office and presiding judge” and said all 19 defendants are “expected” to be booked at the county jail.

The sheriff’s office also noted that “defendants can turn themselves in at any time” as the jail is open 24/7, however, the “unprecedented nature of this case” could trigger some changes to the process “with little or no warning.”

While announcing the indictment in a press conference on Monday night, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis said Trump and the others have until August 25 to turn themselves in.

“Unless someone tells me differently, we are following our normal practices…Doesn’t matter your status, we have mugshots ready for you.” Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat told the press earlier this month, noting that if indicted Trump would receive no special treatment.

  1. That is the number of felony counts that Trump has been charged with in the Georgia elections interference case. Charges against the former president include violation of Georgia’s racketeering laws, conspiracy to commit forgery, making false statements, filing false documents and impersonation of public officers, among others. In all, 41 total counts have been brought against the 19 defendants.

On Monday, Trump and his 18 co-defendants were indicted by a Fulton County grand jury for their alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in Georgia. The indictment filing stated that Trump and the others “refused to accept” that he had lost the presidential elections and they “knowingly and willfully joined a conspiracy to unlawfully change the outcome of the election in favor of Trump.”
