Qatar’s spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs, Majed Al Ansari, announced the pause on X, formerly known as Twitter, Monday morning EST.
Qatar and the U.S. have been assisting in negotiations between Hamas and Israel.
The original agreement included a four-day pause in fighting to allow Hamas to release 50 women and children, and allowed for the pause in fighting to extend if Hamas returned additional hostages.
For every 10 additional hostages, Israel would continue the pause for one day, according to CNN.
