Toyota announced Wednesday it is recalling nearly 280,000 Toyota Tundra, Sequoia and Lexus LX 600 vehicles because of a transmission problem that can result in cars rolling forward while in neutral.

The recall impacts some 2022 Toyota Tundra pickups and Lexus LX 600 SUVs, as well as 2023 and 2024 Toyota Sequoia SUVs, according to the Associated Press.

The issue involves certain parts of the transmission not immediately disengaging when a vehicle is shifted to neutral, which can result in engine power being transferred to wheels and a vehicle creeping forward at low speed when on a flat surface.

The problem leads “to an increased risk of a crash,” according to Toyota.

Toyota and Lexus dealers will update the software for the transmission for free, according to a statement.

Toyota didn’t immediately respond to Forbes’ request for comment.

Honda had 6.3 million vehicles potentially affected by recalls last year, according to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data, followed by Ford (6.1 million) and Kia (3.1 million).

Toyota recalls potentially affected 4.2 million vehicles last year, according to NHTSA data, with much of the figure coming from a one million-vehicle recall in late December that sought to address an electrical issue that could prevent airbags from working.
