More than 20,000 people reported issues with Bank of America's online and mobile banking systems, as well as ATM services, by 12:20 p.m. EDT Wednesday, according to the reporting website Downdetector.
Of those, 57% of people reported issues with online banking, 42% reported mobile banking problems and 1% said they'd had trouble at ATMs, according to the site.
On social media, customers reported seeing a $0 balance after logging into their accounts, and said they were having issues contacting the bank, in some cases that customer service lines were down, while others complained of long hold times, transfers and disconnections.
The bank's social media team responded to complaints on X by asking for additional information Wednesday afternoon but shared no information about the outage, what caused it or how long it may last.
Representatives for Bank of America did not immediately respond to Forbes’ request for comment Wednesday.
