Andrew and Tristan Tate returned to Romania on Saturday, where they are expected to report to police on Monday for a proceeding in their human trafficking and rape criminal case, following a controversial month-long stay in the United States, where they face a criminal investigation.

The Tates—who have denied allegations of wrongdoing—are scheduled to report to a Romanian surveillance officer on Monday, the Associated Press reported, because they remain under judicial control and must report to Romanian authorities when asked.

Upon arriving in Romania on Saturday, Andrew Tate told reporters they returned to the country ”to clear our names and exonerate ourselves,” stating, “we truly deserve the day in court where it is stated that we’ve done nothing wrong.”

In a post on X, Andrew Tate said he spent $185,000 on a jet “to sign one single piece of paper in Romania,” adding: “Innocent men don’t run. THEY CLEAR THEIR NAME IN COURT.”

The Tate brothers, who were American born and British raised, have amassed huge online followings and promote self-described misogynistic views to their millions of followers—but they’ve garnered notoriety for various criminal charges and investigations. Andrew Tate rose to fame on the U.K. version of “Big Brother” and as a kickboxer, but has since become a controversial influencer who targets young men through online programs that he bills as educational. “War Room,” one of these programs, charges participants thousands and promises to “free the modern man from socially induced incarceration,” but a BBC investigation found the program teaches men to groom women into sex work. Andrew Tate now has nearly 11 million followers on X, where he frequently promotes the patriarchy, uses various slurs and makes overtly sexist comments.

The Tates were detained in Romania in 2022, where they were charged with human trafficking, rape and engaging in organized criminal activity, alongside two Romanian associates. Prosecutors accused the brothers of recruiting women and forcing them to make pornographic content. In August, Romanian prosecutors made new accusations the Tates had trafficked minors. The Tates also face charges of “sexual aggression” in the United Kingdom, to where a court ruled they can be extradited after their trial in Romania. Andrew Tate has also been sued by four British women who have accused him of rape and physical abuse. Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier announced after the Tates arrived in the state last month he would open a criminal investigation into the brothers, stating the Tates have “publicly admitted to participating in what very much appears to be soliciting, trafficking, preying upon women around the world,” though he did not specify what crimes he is investigating.

The Tates arrived in Florida last month after Romanian authorities lifted a travel ban placed on the brothers amid their criminal case. Reports indicated U.S. officials had pressured Romania to lift the travel ban, though President Donald Trump said he knew “nothing about” the Tates arriving in Florida. Their arrival in the state was widely controversial, particularly among state leadership. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said, “Florida is not a place where you’re welcome with that type of conduct.”
