The championship matchup won by the Philadelphia Eagles over the Kansas City Chiefs drew 127.7 million viewers, a 3% jump from the 123 million viewers who watched last year’s Super Bowl.

Viewership peaked during the Super Bowl’s second quarter with an average of 137.7 million viewers (the Eagles led the Chiefs by 24 points by the end of the quarter).

Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance had an average viewing audience of 133.5 million people, according to Fox—3% more than last year’s halftime show.

Fox also reported record-setting numbers for its pregame coverage, which it said averaged 27.4 million viewers starting shortly after 2 p.m. EST.

President Donald Trump’s appearance at the Super Bowl marked the first time a sitting president attended the championship game.

Viewership hype around this year’s Super Bowl may have revolved around the Chiefs' shot at winning their third consecutive championship, which would have been an unprecedented milestone in the modern NFL era. The Eagles ended up dominating the Chiefs in a 40-22 victory. Grammy award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar also stirred up interest in the contest with his halftime performance alongside fellow Grammy winner SZA, with viewers correctly anticipating Lamar would take shots at rapper Drake, extending a months-long beef between the rap heavyweights.
