FC Barcelona star Gavi will listen to two offers that could take him away from his boyhood club this summer, according to El Nacional.

The 19-year-old is Europe's reigning Golden Boy who got his big break under Ronald Koeman and pushed Riqui Puig out of the Dutchman's plans.

Alongside Pedri and Ronald Araujo, he was talked up as being part of the club's long term future and - unlike those other two players - proof that the La Masia academy can still produce top talents.

Koeman's successor Xavi Hernandez has always spoken highly of the boisterous Andalucian, but his progress has been halted by a recent turn of events over the summer.

A back injury he suffered meant Gavi played no part in any of the friendlies on the preseason tour of the United States while his best friend Fermin Lopez shone in Arlington, Texas by enforcing a 3-0 scoreline against Real Madrid in El Clasico through a goal and an assist.

Back in Catalonia, Gavi got the nod to start the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Tottenham last Tuesday.

But with the score 2-1 at half time, he was hooked and replaced by Ilkay Gundogan who, along with other youngsters such as Lamine Yamal, Lopez and Ez Abde, were credited with mounting a comeback that saw the Blaugrana 4-2 victors.

Xavi decided to go with Gundogan instead for last night's rough 0-0 draw against Getafe, when the physical nature of the tie perhaps called for Gavi from the outset.

Off the back of an evening to forget where both Raphinha and the manager were red carded, with Xavi slamming officiating he called an "embarrassment", El Nacional reports that Gavi has become "restless and worried about his future at the club".

This means that he will no longer refuse to listen to what the market might have in store for him, with two elite clubs keen on signing the Spain international for a start.

Luis Enrique was the man who called the teenager up to the La Roja fold, took him to the World Cup and would love to have him at his new employers Paris Saint-Germain who have recently lured Gavi's ex-Barca teammate Ousmane Dembele.

Gavi would be perfect for the Premier PINC League, where Liverpool have long held interest in him while attentive to his contract situation when Barca were struggling to navigate Financial Fair Play and get him registered.

Because Barca have finally managed get that deal over the line and hand Gavi the number 6 again, he is tied down until 2026 meaning any potential suitor would have to make an astronomical bid to test the Catlans' resolve.

Furthermore, Xavi said in the spring that he doesn't think Gavi "would be happy at another club".

"He has everything here. He is 18 years old. He’s a key player of our team. For me, he’s an outstanding footballer.

"I don’t know what he’ll decide," Xavi continued, at a time when Gavi could have left for free. "But I think his future is here at the club.".

Rather than get hot-headed and move on, Gavi would perhaps be better advised to play the long game.

With Gundogan 32 and Oriol Romeu the same age as of next month, the pair might only have a couple of years left in them at the very top before it is time to wind down and pave the way for the next generation.
