Shaboozey’s breakout country smash hit, “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” logged a seventeenth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Billboard announced Monday afternoon, making it the longest-running No. 1 hit of the decade and the second longest-running No. 1 hit of all time.

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” breaks a tie it previously held for the second-most weeks at No. 1 in Hot 100 history with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night,” Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito” and Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day,” all of which ranked No. 1 for 16 weeks.

“A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is two weeks away from tying the record for most weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 with “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, which led the chart for 19 weeks in 2019.

“A Bar Song” is now the longest-leading song on the Hot 100 by a solo artist with no featured performer.

The song is easily this year’s longest-running chart topper, ahead of another country hit, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help,” which ranked No. 1 for six weeks earlier this year.

The song leads the Hot Country Songs chart for a 21st week, the longest reign this year and one of eight songs to spend that many weeks atop the chart (Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line's “Meant to Be” holds the all-time record, with 50 weeks atop the country chart).

Shaboozey’s record-shattering hit earned three Grammy nominations on Friday: Song of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance, while Shaboozey earned a nod for Best New Artist.

“WHAT THE F*CK!” Shaboozey said in a social media post, reacting to his song’s record-setting seventeenth week at No. 1.

The Hot 100 ranks songs based on radio, streaming and sales performances, and “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” is currently the most dominant song on radio. The song tops Billboard’s radio chart for a 15th time this week with 70.7 million radio airplay audience impressions, Billboard reported. The song ranks slightly lower elsewhere, reaching No. 3 on Billboard’s sales chart and No. 5 on the streaming chart this week.

Shaboozey’s song was considered a breakthrough for Black artists in country music earlier this year, coupled with Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” album, on which Shaboozey is a featured vocalist on two songs. Beyoncé became the first Black woman to hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart with “Texas Hold ‘Em” in February, and she became the first Black artist to hit No. 1 on the Hot Country Songs chart and Hot 100 simultaneously. In April, Shaboozey’s “Bar Song” replaced “Texas Hold ‘Em” at No. 1 on the country chart, marking the first time two Black artists led the chart back-to-back, and in July, he became the second Black artist after Beyoncé to lead the Hot 100 and country chart at the same time.

“Die With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars ranks No. 2 on this week’s Hot 100 behind “A Bar Song,” and Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather” and Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso” follow at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively. All of the top four songs this week racked up Grammy nominations on Friday. Eilish, Gaga, Mars and Shaboozey will compete for the Song of the Year award, while Carpenter and Eilish are up for Record of the Year.

Whether Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” could threaten Shaboozey’s record-setting chart run. Her holiday smash has ranked No. 1 on the Hot 100 for about two to four weeks every holiday season over the past five years and appears primed to do the same this year, as the song already re-entered the top 30 of U.S. Spotify yesterday. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has spent 14 total weeks at No. 1.
