A jury convicted weapons safety specialist Hannah Gutierrez-Reed of involuntary manslaughter Wednesday in Alec Baldwin’s accidental shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the western movie “Rust,” according to multiple outlets, a decision made as Baldwin awaits trial for the same charge.

Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, though the jury acquitted her of an evidence tampering charge.
The trial largely revolved around how live ammunition was loaded into the prop gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, with prosecutors accusing Reed of neglecting safety protocols that could have identified the hazard.
The jury took less than three hours to return their verdict, The Wall Street Journal reported, noting Reed’s defense blamed the shop that provided the bullets and Baldwin’s handling of the prop gun.
Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial is scheduled for July, and the actor has pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Jury selection for Baldwin’s trial is set for July 9, according to CBS News, with the trial expected to last from July 10-19.
