Maybe it should come as no surprise that the two top voter-getters for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game also sit atop the top 20 most-popular jerseys at the halfway point in the season.

Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr is #1 while two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels comes in 2nd based on sales from MLBShop.com of Nike NKE jerseys since Opening Day and released by MLB and the MLB Players Association today. Both players are currently seen as favorites to win the NL and AL MVP awards.

Sales data was not released.

Out of the top 20 players, the 2021 World Series champion Atlanta Braves lead the way with the most players including Acuña Jr., Matt Olson (#8), Austin Riley (#11), and Ozzie Albies (#12). The Houston Astros, who won the World Series last year, tied for second-most players in the top 20 with three (José Altuve at #5, Alex Bregman at #9, and Yordan Alvarez at #17) while the Dodgers see Mookie Betts (#6), Freddie Freeman (#16), and Clayton Kershaw (#20). Clubs with two players include the Angels (Ohtani, and Mike Trout at #10), and San Diego Padres (Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado). Tatis coming in at #3 yet not seeing him in Tuesday’s All-Star Game shows his PED suspension last season weighed on voters.

With the All-Star Game being played at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Mariners fans will have more to root for. Star centerfielder Julio Rodriguez moved into the #7 spot making it the first time he has cracked the top 10.

In a sign that the Baltimore Orioles have a star in the making, Adley Rutschman lands at #18.

According to Major League Baseball, the list heading into the All-Star break is the most diverse the league has ever seen. Five of the top ten and nine of the top 20 players on the most popular list are either Black/African-American or Latino. Eight players were born outside of the United States with two from the Dominican Republic and Venezuela, and one from Japan, Puerto Rico, Cuba and Curaçao.

Below are the top 20 jersey sales as released by MLB and the MLBPA.
