Scalise, 57, said he underwent blood work last week after “a few days of not feeling like” himself, and the results showed abnormalities that eventually led to a diagnosis.

Scalise said the cancer was detected “early” and is “very treatable,” adding that he has begun treatment and hopes to work through it: “I expect to work through this period and intend to return to Washington,” he said.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
