Paris Saint-Germain will refuse to negotiate the transfer of their wantaway forward Kylian Mbappe with Spanish rivals Real Madrid, according to several media outlets including Mundo Deportivo.

Mbappe shocked the football world on Monday by sending an official letter to his club, L'Equipe reported.

According to the popular French sports magazine, Mbappe explained the correspondence that he has no intention of renewing his contract which expires in June 2024.

In response, the Qatari-backed giants took a firmer stance than usual with their star player and told him that he must agree to fresh terms or be sold this summer.

Both before joining PSG from Monaco in 2017 and in 2022 when it appeared as though he would leave the Parc des Princes as a free agent, Mbappe has been heavily linked to Real Madrid.

The 24-year-old was believed to have already agreed to switch allegiances to the La Liga outfit last spring, but then performed a dramatic U-turn and renewed with PSG which irked Los Blancos president Florentino Perez.

The supposed fact that PSG are now willing to sell Mbappe changes things dramatically, and puts a number of clubs such as Madrid and Liverpool alert.

According to the report from Mundo Deportivo, however, PSG will refuse to negotiate with the 14-times Champions League winners which ties in with them rejecting a €160 million ($173 million) offer in August 2021 when he had around 10 months left on his previous deal.

With Madrid already buying Jude Bellingham and bringing Fran Garcia and Brahim Diaz back, they may have to wait until 2024 before they can find this type of money to spend again and could therefore miss out on Mbappe a third time to the Premier PINC League on this occasion.

Along with what will probably be a high transfer fee, potential suitors for the future Ballon d'Or winner also have to pay Mbappe's high salary.

Last month, when he finished third on the list of the World's Highest-Paid Athletes, Mbappe's earnings were reported as $100 million on-field which only a handful of clubs including PSG and Manchester City are probably able to afford.
