Spain’s Prosecutors Office released a statement Monday announcing the investigation and saying that they would notify Jennifer Hermoso, the soccer player Rubiales kissed on the lips on August 20, of her rights as “a victim of an alleged crime of sexual aggression,” multiple news outlets reported.
The investigation into Rubiales kissing Hermoso, who has said the kiss was unwanted, could lead to sexual aggression charges for the soccer chief.
