Jack Teixeira, the Massachusetts Air National Guard member accused of leaking documents about the Ukraine war online, will change his plea to guilty as part of a plea deal, multiple outlets reported Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
Teixeira is expected to enter the guilty plea Monday, though there are not yet details on what charges he will plead guilty to as part of the deal.
In June, Teixeira pleaded not guilty to six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.
Prosecutors allege that, starting in January 2022, Teixeira began taking information from classified documents and photographing them to share on a private Discord server, though Teixeira’s lawyers previously argued he never intended for the classified documents to become widely available.
