In a lawsuit filed with the Eastern District of Missouri federal court, Ann alleged that her brother abused her from 1997 to 2006—starting when she was three years old and Sam was 12—at their family’s home in Clayton, Missouri.

According to the suit the abuse “occurred several times per week,” and alleges that Altman “groomed and manipulated” his sister into “believing the aforementioned sexual acts were her idea.”

The suit added that the last instances of the abuse occurred when Altman was an adult while his sister while still a minor.

The OpenAI CEO issued a joint statement with his mother Connie and brothers Jack and Max saying the allegations were “utterly untrue.”

“Our family loves Annie” the statement read before claiming that she “faces mental health challenges” and the family has tried “many ways to support Annie and help her find stability.”

“This situation causes immense pain to our entire family. It is especially gut-wrenching when she refuses conventional treatment and lashes out at family members who are genuinely trying to help,” the statement added.
