Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building is heading to ABC. The alphabet network will air the freshman season beginning on Tuesday, January 2 with the first three episodes following Celebrity Jeopardy. The move, no doubt, is a result of the recent double strike, which has delayed the start of the 2023-2024 TV season to first quarter. And the 10 episodes will be spread out across the four Tuesdays in January on ABC.
Only Murders in the Building joins a number of streaming shows that have moved to broadcast TV to fill the holes left in the network schedules, including the current run of Paramount+ drama Yellowstone on CBS.
Debuting on Hulu on August 31, 2021, Only Murders in the Building follows three residents in an affluent apartment building in Manhattan, played by Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez, who investigate a succession of suspicious deaths and produce their own podcast about the cases. The comedy-mystery hybrid has been universally praised by the critics, with three Primetime Emmy Awards to-date (and 28 nominations), among other accolades.
Only Murders in the Building aired its third season on Hulu earlier this year, and has already been renewed for a fourth season.
The official return of new scripted programs on ABC does not begin until the season premieres of comedies The Conners, Not Dead Yet and Abbott Elementary on February 7. Competing networks CBS, NBC and Fox will also not start rolling out their new line-ups until first quarter as well.
