There’s a new No. 1 song in America. As Olivia Rodrigo debuts her new single “Vampire” atop this week’s Hot 100, the track has managed to topple what has become the biggest hit in America this year.

"Vampire" arrive at No. 1 on the Hot 100, and its immediate success marks the third time that Morgan Wallen's successful run in the peak position has been interrupted. Wallen's song "Last Night" has led the charge for 13 nonconsecutive frames and is the biggest hit in America so far this year. Despite numerous attempts by superstars to rise to the summit, only a few have managed to do so, while others have come close but ultimately missed out.

"Last Night" also made its debut at No. 1 on the Hot 100 during the week the album it's featured on, One Thing at a Time, was released. The country cut opened in first place back in mid-March, and since then, only three songs have managed to surpass it, and none of them for very long.

The first track to dethrone Wallen and reach No. 1 on the Hot 100 was Miley Cyrus' "Flowers." This poppy cut took over the top spot just after "Last Night" opened inside the penthouse. "Flowers" ruled for two more turns before stepping away for good, as it had already enjoyed quite a lengthy run in first place on the chart.

Cyrus was then pushed out of the No. 1 spot by BTS singer Jimin. His solo single, "Like Crazy," blasted onto the Hot 100 at No. 1, thanks to more than a quarter of a million sales. However, it didn't stay in first place for long and relinquished the position to "Last Night" the following week.

After another pair of turns atop the Hot 100, "Last Night" was once again forced down, but not by a newcomer. SZA's "Kill Bill" finally overpowered Wallen's single after weeks of attempting to do so, giving the R&B talent her first chart-topping hit on the Hot 100. That track only held the top spot for one frame before "Last Night" reclaimed its position, where it has remained for the past 10 weeks.

Now, Olivia Rodrigo's "Vampire" has taken charge of the Hot 100, but it remains to be seen how long it will hold the top spot. It's entirely likely that "Last Night" will return to No. 1 next week, adding to its already historic total. But eventually, it will fall again.
