Another day, another milestone for Novak Djokovic.

The 36-year-old Serb won his 33rd straight match at Wimbledon and now stands two victories shy of his record-tying 24th Grand Slam title and fifth straight Wimbledon crown after defeating No. 7 Andrey Rublev 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 to advance to the semifinals. Djokovic still hasn’t lost on Centre Court at Wimbledon since the 2013 final to Andy Murray — a decade ago.

Djokovic, the No. 2 seed, will have two days off before facing No. 8 Jannik Sinner of Italy in the semifinals on Friday. His 46th major semifinal ties Roger Federer for the most ever by a man.

Sinner, 21, advanced to his first major semifinal with a four-set win over Roman Safiullin, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

It will be a rematch of last year’s quarterfinals, which Djokovic won in five sets after trailing two sets to none. Djokovic went on to win his seventh Wimbledon, his fourth straight and his 21st major title.

In the big picture, Djokovic is now nine match wins from the first calendar slam since Rod Laver did it for a second time in 1969. Two years ago, he won the first three majors of the season only to lose in the U.S. Open final to Daniil Medvedev in straight sets.

Against Rublev, Djokovic once again emerged victorious after dropping the first set, something he has now done 77 times.

In the fourth set, he earned a decisive break early to go up 2-1 and then held to consolidate for a 3-1 edge.

He then closed it out by breaking Rublev in the ninth game of the fourth set. Djokovic hit a backhand winner to push Rublev to 0-40 on his serve and then won it with a knifing backhand volley winner that Rublev dove for but before tumbling to the ground.

In the other quarterfinals on Wednesday, No. 1 seed and U.S. Open champion Carlos Alcaraz meets No. 6 Holger Rune in a battle of next-generation stars, while No. 3 Daniil Medevev faces American Chris Eubanks, who has reached the quarters in his first Wimbledon appearance.
