Medical testing found no evidence that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell suffers from “a seizure disorder” or experienced a stroke “or movement disorder such as Parkinson’s disease” when he froze in front of reporters twice this summer, congressional doctor Brian Monahan wrote in a letter to the senator Tuesday.

Monahan said McConnell (R-Ky.) underwent MRI imaging, an electroencephalogram (EEG) study and a “comprehensive neurology assessment” after he froze for more than 30 seconds during a press conference in Kentucky on Wednesday.
McConnell experienced a similar episode in July, when he abruptly stopped talking and did not speak or move for about 19 seconds at a Capitol press conference—incidents aides blamed on lightheadedness.
The letter comes after seven neurologists told the New York Times last week McConnell’s health issues appeared to be more serious than a dizzy spell, and several said he appeared to exhibit signs of a seizure or mini stroke.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
